2023, Expanded-cinema Installation with Mixed Media Sculpture

Installation View at Exhibition We Sink and Settle on the Waves, Zurich, 2023. Copyright the Artist

Red Ocean is an immersive audio-visual installation that takes the form of expanded cinema. The film is not viewed directly but seen only through refractions projected onto a central sculptural piece composed of shattered mirror shards. A sonic-visual collage, Red Ocean weaves together the haunting sounds of a hunter-killer whale song with archival fragments of dolphin and whale massacres, interlaced with the poetic testimony of an anonymous young woman recounting a toxic relationship.

Visitors were invited to step inside the installation and inhabit the fragmented environment in order to experience the film as a eco-feminist space of distortion, resonance, and reflection.
